Local electricians. Less guesswork. Leicester and Leicestershire. A clearer way to find help for your home. Find services and coverage. Search by service, then confirm your exact job and address with the business. Compare public profiles and their actual status. A basic listing is not verification. Review stars do not prove competence. Save your own shortlist. Compare the businesses you choose, then contact the business yourself. Ask about the call-out fee, labour, parts and VAT. What is included, and what could cost more? Older customers, or anyone needing extra support, can ask for written prices and extra time. Involve a trusted person where arranged. Before booking, check relevant registration and competence for the exact electrical work you need. Our mission: fair, transparent customer service. Quality over quantity. Visit www.electricianshortlist.co.uk and make your own shortlist.

URGENT VISITS · CLEAR COSTS · YOUR CHOICE

Emergency & 24/7 help.
Know what you’re booking.

Planned jobs and emergency visits use different schedules. Some firms offer urgent help alongside their usual work; others advertise out-of-hours cover. Choose the help you need, then call to confirm your exact address, the fault and the expected arrival window.

24/7 searches use sourced advertised hours for the selected service and area. Advertising round-the-clock cover does not confirm an engineer is available now. We do not dispatch tradespeople or guarantee attendance.

Confirm the visit

Ask who will attend and who you are contracting with, including whether a local engineer or subcontractor will carry out the work.

Check the attending person’s qualifications for your exact job. A national network, review score or 24-hour label is not a competence check.

Agree the charging basis

Urgent and out-of-hours visits can cost more than planned work. Ask before booking about:

  • Call-out and diagnostic charges
  • Minimum labour, hourly rates and VAT
  • Parts, travel and out-of-hours extras
  • What you pay if no repair is made

Ask for written confirmation and agree how extra work is authorised. Use the costs checklist →

Have home emergency cover?

Once safe, contact your policy’s helpline before booking privately. Ask whether the fault is covered, whether they arrange the engineer, and about authorisation, excesses and limits.

Some firms can supply itemised invoices, photos or reports for a claim. Confirm the exact assistance; it does not guarantee your insurer will reimburse you.

Run an emergency electrical service? Advertise with Electrician Shortlist.

Help local customers understand your real call-out area, advertised hours, charges and any insurance-claim assistance. Independent firms and wider service networks can enquire. Public listings and advertising are subject to our checks; payment does not buy qualification approval or a guaranteed recommendation.

EVIDENCE BEFORE ASSUMPTIONS

Understand what’s checked.

Which electrical registers and qualifications should I check? →

Public basic listing

A dated review of identity, advertised services, service areas and relevant public information. Unclaimed means the business has not approved this profile.

Business-approved profile

An authorised representative has agreed the exact information and permitted media. This alone does not establish every qualification or full directory verification.

Verified by Electrician Shortlist

A separate review of exact work scope, competence and relevant registration, authority, insurance, complaints arrangements, reputation and media permissions. Supporting documents stay private.

A scheme logo, company registration or customer score does not establish competence for every job. Domestic work, EICRs, industrial installations and renewable technologies have different scope. No payment buys verification.

Why Anthony started Electrician Shortlist

Anthony drew on his extensive experience in the appliance industry and the concerns customers shared with him about home-service customer care and pricing. He has also witnessed first-hand how older customers can face poor care or excessive charges when an urgent problem leaves them anxious and under pressure. This inspired him to create a directory focused on meaningful checks, clear information and fair, transparent pricing, with particular care for vulnerable customers.
